Record number of donors support University of South Florida during Giving Week
From April 10–14, alumni and friends came together to champion a wide variety of programs, from student scholarships to community health care initiatives. Of the 7,064 Giving Week donors, 1,152 gave to the university for the first time. In total, the USF Foundation received more than $6.6 million during Giving Week.

Meet Dr. Jennifer Seminerio
Seminerio specializes in gastroenterology, treating painful and debilitating illnesses such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. She is the medical director of the new Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at the USF Health Morsani Center for Advanced Healthcare, the first multidisciplinary care center for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) on Florida’s west coast. She’s also an assistant professor and associate program director of gastroenterology in the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine.

He and his wife, former USF president Betty Castor have been deeply connected to the University of South Florida’s growth and success for decades.

The Digital Engagement Center launched on Jan. 17, with 65 students reaching out to connect with alumni. While calls have already brought in more than 500 gifts totaling above $25,000 in just one month, the center’s main goal is simply to engage with USF alumni and friends.

Like Mother, Like Daughter: Leaving a Legacy for Women in STEM
Dr. Anila Jain gained an early appreciation for the values of education and mentorship by watching one of the people closest to her. Her mother, Mona Jain, PhD ’84, was a trailblazer in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). She taught biological science, health science and physical science at schools throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties at a time when there were no other women in her department.
